A Message from the Founder

“The importance of communication can not be overlooked or underestimated. Communication is how we share information with those around us, and is needed in every single thing we do and to accomplish every goal we have.

Unfortunately, there are far too many gaps in education, inclusion and participation within the field. We work to bridge those gaps so people can reach their full potential and succeed as communicators.

COM-GAP fosters an inclusive environment where everyone is able to learn more and grow regardless of their circumstances. Regardless of economic background, education level, and/or career experience. We ensure that programs are affordable, education is easily accessible, and that our members help each other grow professionally.

We need to be continually educating ourselves and striving for excellence in our field because communication is always evolving. COM-GAP members should be passionate and have a hunger to learn more about communication. At the same time, our work extends to the public, as we should be educating those who may not know exactly what the role is of communication in society.

In order to reach our full potential though, we must combine academics with real world opportunities. We must experience learning in different environments and capacities be it mentoring programs, workshops, conferences, internships, etc. We make these opportunities available.

My goal for this organization is to connect people of all ages, career levels, and industries in our profession. To make our profession more unified, and bridge these gaps that are preventing professionals from reaching their full potential.

This isn’t meant to be an ‘all exclusive’ membership, or something you are just using to add a line in your resume. COM-GAP is structured so you can build your career and see the direct results unfolding in front of you. There are great opportunities for you to connect with our community — and we will help you every step of the way.

Thank you for considering being a part of our mission.”
